Between November 18 and 20, 1997, an exhibition of valuable treasures from the Vatican Library took place at the National Museum of Fine Arts, which includes original manuscripts of Virgil’s poems, Aztec ideograms, ancient maps and an illustrated edition of the Homer’s Iliad.
The exhibition called “Treasures of the Vatican Library: From Scrolls to Bits”, was sponsored by the Vatican Library, the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, the Graduate Center in Economics of the Argentine Catholic University and IBM.
This unique multimedia exhibition showed how the advanced technology of the IBM Digital Library is used in the preservation and exhibition of works of art and ancient stories.
